According to FIC, the exclusive owner of the first broadcast window outside the U.S. for the AMC Networks series, nearly 25 million viewers across 14 markets caught season four of The Walking Dead. The show hit ratings highs for a pay-TV series in several territories, with the season four finale in Fox in Germany and Spain taking the number one slot for a primetime broadcast across all pay-TV channels.
FIC attributed the show's success, in part, to the group's strategy of releasing new Walking Dead episodes the day after their U.S. bow. This compares to typical delays of several weeks or months for top U.S. series airing in Europe.
FIC said the performance of Walking Dead internationally has reinforced the company's commitment to launching new series globally "as close as possible to the American schedules."
